About Kedarnath

Kedarnath is one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is part of the Char Dham and Panch Kedar pilgrimages. Located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, the temple sits at an altitude of 3,583 meters amidst the majestic snow-covered Himalayan peaks near the Mandakini River. According to Hindu mythology, this is where Lord Shiva appeared as a Jyotirlinga. The temple's architecture is awe-inspiring, with large stone slabs over a rectangular platform. Pilgrims must trek approximately 16 kilometers from Gaurikund to reach the temple, as there is no direct road access. The challenging journey through stunning landscapes makes the pilgrimage even more meaningful for devotees.
